Oppenheim Architecture is an international design practice operating with the philosophy that design follows life and form follows feeling. The firm designs and builds with the land, not on the land – framing nature through shapes and textures that enhance and celebrate their surroundings. Oppenheim strives to find harmony with nature in order to connect people with place. Working out of Miami, New York and Basel, the firm crafts its designs by carefully balancing the needs of the individual and the attributes of the location. Oppenheim’s work, including hospitality, commercial, retail and residential projects spanning more than 25 countries, carries an inherent sense of monumentality, producing meaningful moments that are both impactful and contemplative.
Founded in 1999 by Chad Oppenheim, FAIA, NCARB, LEED AP, the firm has received over 80 professional distinctions, including more than 50 AIA Awards and a 2019 National Design Award from Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum.

For our team, design is a way of life – a professional philosophy, a creative rallying, and a shared purpose in support of excellence. Our global experience pays tribute to the passionate creation of distinctive, innovative, and inspiring environments. Working in conjunction with nature to achieve impressive results with enduring appeal, we design outdoor spaces that are timeless, never forced – and establish relationships that strengthen these concepts for future projects and generations. With an eye toward holistic development, land preservation, and aesthetic cognizance, our designers improve the relationship between people and place. We graciously accept our role as stewards of the land and the built environment with the full creativity, integrity, and the commitment of our entire worldwide team.

As one of the great players of all time, he’s had the opportunity to play many of the nation’s finest golf courses. He started sketching golf holes on notepads when he was 13 years old, and fifteen years later he had his first chance to draw them in the dirt and the result was Whisper Rock, a widely acclaimed golfer’s club in Scottsdale, Arizona. A product of public golf as a junior, he’s keenly aware of what works for the average player as well as professional champions.
